I have been designing websites and other graphics for more than ten years. This page contains samples of my design work.
I use Adobe Photoshop to create graphics, and I code by hand in Textpad.

Website for a microbusiness
Holly Swinton Tutoring
The client’s request was "apple green!" There’s no escaping that this is a tough brief, but I tried to make the green theme look soothing, rather than sickly. I used the ‘S’ of ‘Swinton’ to create a swirly central motif and added relevant photos for interest.

Mark Swinton: Organist
The gold-brown colour theme was picked to echo the tones of the organ. I restored and tinted amateur photos provided by the client and created a simple collage that suggests the action of organ-playing.

Cover for a recipe book
O Taste and See
For this church charity cookbook design, I gave a sepia tint to a bog-standard photo of the church. A loopy cursive font for the cover text created a twee but not altogether displeasing appearance. I copied the winter branches motif onto the back cover, for a finishing touch.

Cover for a DVD
Romans - la musique et le Paradis
Use of gradients and sepia tint tie together photos of the town, church and organist, for this DVD cover of an organ recital. Curved edges and cursive font soften the overall appearance.

Desktop wallpaper
Skins, s3
I wanted to create a collage of screen captures from the E4’s Skins, but without resorting to hackneyed blurring/feathering techniques. Instead, I picked a motif of circles and blocky spirals, which I used to separate and define more than a dozen images. Notably, I layered images of graffiti (which is quintessentially urban), as a contrast to beautiful, natural images of water and sky.
